Pineapples, photos, and collections. These are the essentials to such a photographic passion project. The idea of collections centered around a pineapple literally excited and scared me. In this post, I am going to describe the types of collections that we'll offer; however, it's possible it will change up over time as I ebb and flow.
If you've checked out the Pineapples shop, you'll see two types of collections right now:
- Collections of 2-5 photos that consist of the free photos from the new release. Like a way to sample or taste test a pineapple.
- Themed pineapple photo collections

I know what you're thinking. Why would anyone bother to purchase a collection of photos you offer for free already?
The idea is to provide you with a quick and easy option to download larger packs of images. Even if someone discovers my pineapple photos on Unsplash today, they will need to spend time clicking the download button for each. Imagine if someone wants to download a large volume of images in a year or 2. This is the situation that I am trying to help people with by offering collections.
I am trying to offer this from the beginning as I believe it will help potential customers, but it also helps me to organize as well.
At the time, I'm offering the collections in batches of 25 photos, but I'll also look into milestone collections of 100, 250, 500 as well.
These collections will only exist at in the shop.
Themed Pineapple Photo Collections
Themed pineapple photo collections' where my creativity is explored. I'm both excited and scared. Excited to create. Scared to ship. Excited to plan shoots. Scared to run out of ideas.
At the moment, I've decided to create collections of 20 images and offer them over on a shop at Creative Market. And we've already been getting a nice response and seen a few sales.
My intention is to create projects that center around or include pineapples. It is the ultimate limitation, but I adore the idea of having a physical prop with which to work. With each collection, I'll do my best to write up a story related to it as well.
Ultimately, I believe the collections will be large enough that you could use the images for many purposes:
- Website headers/hero images
- Font presentation
- Logotype or insignia promotional materials
- Any web design, blog or template placeholders
- Background images for webpages, case study or blogs
- Articles, posts, app design
- Personal or commercial project
- Any other promotional or presentational works
How many collections will I produce?
The number of collections of pineapple photos that I'll release isn't something I've thought about until this moment as I type. In my past, I've always got overzealous with what I think I can put out. This time around, my goal is to put out a new collection each month. If more collections are released, they'll be a bonus.
I've already released 2 collections on Creative Market now. Another one will be released before the end of December and then we'll start 2016 fresh!
