Pineapples or Not: Just do your thing!

Pineapples or Not: Just do your thing!

Pineapples started as a side-project. Frustrated that I couldn't simply create collections of photos on Unsplash yet, I thought of a creating the Unsplash profile as a collections hack.  Fast forward to no long working with Unsplash, I have more time and energy to attempt to go from side-project to all-in project. However, it's back to a side-project.

The only way to become a pineapple photographer is to photograph pineapples.

Man, that sounds so weird.

Pineapples or Not: Just do your thing!

My first piece of advice is to just fucking do it.

Every single time that I go and photograph a pineapple, I can't help but think that people wonder about this obsession or fetish with a pineapple. If someone were to ask me, I still don't really know what the interaction would look like in completion.

Regardless if you're shooting pineapples or lego toys, just have fun and do it!

I continue to do press forward even though I wrestle with the idea of spending my time photographing pineapples when I can't fully express the reason behind it yet. Right now it might seem weird to pretty much everyone, but I believe there is so much opportunity for this art to connect and make a difference in some way.

Defining my art and purpose is going to be one of the most important things for me to do early in 2016. In essence, I need to write out and develop our very own Pineapples Manifesto.  I may even consider looking to hire a copywriter or editor to look it over and help me. But it's important to not let this kind of planning of the project get in the way of actually doing the project.

Even if you don't know why you have a drive to make something, do it anyways.

If you think you're idea is weird, just remember that I'm over here shooting stock pineapple photos ?
